Emmanuel Church International
400 Grant Street, SE

We are excited to add Emmanuel Church International to the tour this year. The first permanent building on this site was built by Central Baptist Church and was c ompleted in 1894. Two years after its initial construction, a bell tower and classrooms were added. In the late 1920's a new facility was built to accommodate the growing congregation. At this time, the original building was razed. The first service was held in the new building on March 31, 1929.

Since then, it has undergone several renovations and additions. In the late 40's an educational annex was constructed. In 1963 a four-story children's building was established and the sanctuary underwent major renovations to allow for a television ministry. Central Baptist Church called 400 Grant Street home for over a century. Emmanuel Church International was started in 1996 and is humbled to be divinely positioned and purposefully included in the heritage of this significant historic building and downtown Decatur.
