The Barrett-Faison home is an English Cottage built in 1944 for
the Barrett Family. Mr. Barrett, who worked as a Sealtest milkman
and served Jackson Street on his route, is fondly remembered
by some for throwing ice from his truck to children who
chased him down the street on hot summer days.
The Barrett
family lived in this home for many years followed by other owners
including Mark and Tanya Clark and Wondal Perry.
The Clarks renovated the kitchen and baths and, in addition
to creating a middle bedroom upstairs from attic space, they
also turned the side, screened-in porch into a sun room featuring
beautiful pickled wood and slate floors. Over the years the
Clarks added garden windows and a skylight. Outside they built
a three-car garage in a style that complements the era of the
house, a wrought iron fence and a pergola that is now covered
in a flowing trumpet vine.
Wondal Perry further renovated the house, painting the kitchen
cabinets a distressed black and adding a marble kitchen
floor. Her lovely cosmetic touches, including glass blocks in the
downstairs bath window, can be seen throughout the house.
The Faisons are grateful to be at home in this English Cottage,
the perfect place for their family Christmas!
